Community Credits Update

December 31st, 2008

With the end of the year 2008, we’d like to end redemption of community credits earned after 31st December 2008. Redemption of Community Credits was an introductory offer, and will stop end of December 2008.

From 2009, users will still be able to earn Community Credits, and stay ahead of their peers in their City, or across India – however these Credits will not be redeemable. All Community Credits earned till 31st December will be redeemable, subject to redemption conditions.

Please note that depending on business environment etc, OnYoMo might restart redemption of credits earned at onyomo.com. All such decisions will be duly announced on the site.

All OnYoMo users eligible for redemption will be separately notified of the details.

We truly hope OnYoMo was able to serve you well in the year 2008. We hope to better the services we deliver in 2009.

Here is wishing you a Happy New Year 2009 from The OnYoMo Team.

Find what you want, blog about it, win movie tickets

June 18th, 2008

Now that the monsoons are here, we want you to catch your favorite flick in a snug little theater.

The deal is that you search for a movie/restaurant/cafe/atm/brand or retail outlet at Onyomo.com. Write a blog post with a link to the search, an explanation of what’s cool and may be even a screenshot. If you are feeling motivated, you can post a few searches to increase your chances. On Friday, July 4th, Onyomo will post links to the 5 best blogs and send each of those users movie tickets for 2. How easy could it be?

The goal is to highlight things such as
- the ease with which Onyomo throws up the most relevant results with all required information and forward links. For instance, in movie results, you can search by movie name/actor/show timings/genre etc, and the icing could be the show timing hyperlinks that take you straight to our booking partners!
- Or you could choose to highlight how OnYoMo attempts to connect people closely with their cities, by introducing the Community Credits for people to share their experiences of their cities
- Or you could just write about the breadth of information that OnYoMo delivers – from branded stores to your favorite retail chains, Cafes, Restaurants, Airlines, Movies, Book Stores, Beauty Saloons etc
- ok – if you are a mobile fanatic, highlight the search delivery on SMS and GPRS – and how convenient OnYoMo makes life for people by delivering this search on mobiles

Try out what you find interesting – some of the above, or all of the above – get your literary juices flowing on your blog, and if you’ve delivered the punch, you’d find us waiting to hand you over movie tickets and links to your blog on our site.

If this is your cup of tea, send us an email at feedback[at]onyomo.com with Community Credits as the title, a link to your blog post about OnYoMo, and your contact details. Or just leave a comment on our blog with your blog link.

We look forward to a few surprises, a few Aha’s!, and hopefully a lot of laughs.

Contribute to your city, get rewarded

June 12th, 2008

Hi there,

Been a while that I penned down something here.

With rains around, it is a perfect time to let my pen flow!

For months together, we have pondered over how to get people excited about city search. Not just excited but also, how to get people closely attached to their cities. Thoughts and more thoughts, and a few more thoughts. And then it struck. We zeroed in on the idea of giving people credits for every contribution they make to OnYoMo – be it
- writing a review on their favorite joints, or
- voting on a review as a great review or
- inviting their friends to the service

And pretty much anything that people would wanna share with others. We’d shortly be launching a slew of options where users can earn credits. We do want this to be the first-point-of-search for anything in their city.

Well, we know only so much about what is critical to help this system make OnYoMo establish itself as the defacto. But we need to learn so much more. So pls do share your thoughts/inputs/feedback on this – we are all ears!
