There are many franchisees of this Mughlai restaurants chain, the parent outfit being located at Park Street, where the 30-seater non a/c covered area overlooks a small lawn in front, making for an outdoor experience. Shiraz does a good job with almost everything, including the Biryanis, the Chaaps, the Kebabs and the Tandoori dishes. Pick up a whole tandoori chicken for Rs 105 and its one half at Rs 75. The chicken and mutton dishes, priced at about Rs 55 a plate, comprise a single helping fit for one person. Both tandoori and gravy dishes made with Paneer are available. Try the Chicken Reshmi Kebabs and the Paneer Tikkas here, which are simply divine.
The food is reasonably good at Manthan, but their marketing strategies are even better. The restaurant hosts either a Biryani festival or a Kebab festival almost all round the year. The decor of this 100-seater eatery is quite impressive with seating arrangements at various levels. If you're not too hung up about the authenticity of the North-West Frontier cuisine, you will enjoy your meal here. The Birbal Ki Handi, the Hyderabadi Biryani, the Chicken Murg Zafrani Korma, the Jhinga Gulnar and the Jalpari Machchli are highly recommended. A fusion of Chinese and Singaporean cuisine is a recent addition to the menu, but the Hupak Chicken, the American Corn Pepper Salt and the Pesang Gareng are worth checking out.
This restaurant is famous for its moghlai varieties. The ambiance is not so good but the food is good. It is a cheap restaurant in the heart of Calcutta. The must tries are the mutton biriyani, chicken chaap, paneer tikka, & varieties of kebabs. They also provide home delivery & take away service. One can have a good meal for around 350 for two persons.
