There was a time when this was the only restaurant which served traditional and authentic Bengali fare. Now it's business has taken a beating though, with umpteen competitors. Run by the All Bengal Women's Union, a voluntary organisation for the rehabilitation of women and children, the joint is open for lunch only. Their fixed lunch menu comprises about 10 dishes in the main course. The vegetarian dishes are quite a treat. If you prefer non-veg, try the Ilish, Rui, Beckti, Tangra, Parshe and Chingri items that vary daily. The Kasha Mangsho-Luchi combo is offered on all days except Thursdays and Saturdays. Round off your meal here with home-style Bengali desserts like the Pithey and the Pati Sapta which you won't get in other restaurants of the same ilk.
